Cruiser · Dear Diary

A new fear unlocked

Today, Dad took us on a walk. We knew we were doing a great job on leash when we heard him say over and over and over and over - "you guys! what are we doing?" as he pulled us back with all his strength. He should just let us go our own speed, we'd get through the walk much quicker.

Dad said it was “adeere” – I don’t know what that means.

Hello. It’s Cruiser. Have we already met? Anyway, Dad says I am a “big boy”. Normally that would mean I’m brave, but I do not feel the brave. I feel the fear. That is all I know for certain.

Today, Dad took us on a walk. We knew we were doing a great job on leash when we heard him say over and over and over and over – “you guys! what are we doing?” as he pulled us back with all his strength. He should just let us go our own speed, we’d get through the walk much quicker. And we could chase the squirrels. Something scared me though and I barked at it one time. I didn’t realize The Thing wasn’t on my neck, so maybe I can learn things after all! Dad said it was “adeere” – I don’t know what that means. It was bigger than me, and had really long ears. Longer than Hilux! I knew deep down that it was a threat, as was the smaller one behind it. Dad said “no” emphatically. Dad held on. Eventually Dad got my attention, Hilux and Sequoia seemingly weren’t afraid. It’s ok guys, I have fear enough for all of us!

Further on our walk, we met people! How I love people. Dad talked to them about me! Well… and about Hilux and Sequoia and how Hilux is not a wolf. He scares me sometimes because he acts like one. Also how Sequoia is half Bernese (like me!) and how he thinks that she thinks that she is the alpha of the pack. That’s too much thinking for me. I just follow along and try to do what they do.
